Crummer died at Pocahontas Community Hospital Thursday evening, Nov. 7, after a short illness. Funeral services were held Monday in the United Methodist Church at Pocahontas with burial in Summit Hill Cemetery. Rev. Max Paige officiated at the services. Casket bearers were Dean Sandy, Alvin Lindstrom, Ray Anderson, Robert Mefferd, Luther Monkelien and Robert Reinhart.Raymond Austin Crummer, son of John A. Crummer and Mary Pulley, was born April 13, 1887. He attended rural schools in Pocahontas county, Tobin Business College at Fort Dodge and the Iowa State Normal College at Cedar Falls. Ray taught for a time in county rural schools.He was married March 25, 1914 at Fort Dodge to Edla A. Gulgren. They made their home on the Crummer homestead until 1951 when they moved into Pocahontas.He was a charter member of the Pocahontas chapter of Rotary International, a member of Iris Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Mishna Lodge of the Masonic Order, and the United Methodist Church where he had served as a church school teacher, choir member, and an official board member.Mrs. Crummer died Sept. 30 of this year. Survivors included two daughters, Mrs. Harold Anderson of Spartanburg, S.C., Mrs. Dean Johnson of Webb; a sister, Mrs. Amiel Johnson of the Good Samaritan Center in Pocahontas; a brother, Wren, of San Diego, Calif.; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
